HAITI MISSION TRIP PACKING LIST

ANY creams or liquids over 3 ounces MUST be in a checked-bag & NOT the carry-on.  
Under 3 ounces may be in carry-on and IN a quart size zip-lock bag. Pocket knives go in checked bags.


Baggage allowance on Delta:
  • Each team member gets 1 suitcase and 1 carry-on.
  • Suitcase: 50lbs, 62 inches  L+W+H
  • Carry-on: 45 inches L+W+H


  1. simple gift for family we are staying with (dish towels, candles...)
  2. passport and affidavit if under 18, also list of current vaccinations 
  3. Phones may be brought.  They are rarely useful as phones.
  4. toothbrush & paste & floss 
  5. razor & shaving cream 
  6. pocket knife (optional)
  7. sunburn remedies & sunscreen  & sunglasses 
  8. towel, washcloth & 1 load worth of detergent (powdered is good for travel)
  9. deodorant 
  10. hand sanitizer
  11. soap & shampoo  (or plan to share)
  12. comb / brush 
  13. medicines: anything you might want ie: vitamins, pain meds, allergy, upset stomach AND anti-diarrheal (like Immodium)
  14. clothesline & clothespins (optional)
  15. flashlight & extra batteries (optional)
  16. bottle for water (should seal well) 
  17. Bible  (small / electronic is fine)
  18. personal lunch/snacks (6 day stash) Note: Think healthy before you think fun!  Food needs to keep you healthy.  Proteins, dried fruits, & carbs beat sugars.
  19. spending money ($50 minimum) - There are very few places to spend.  Credit cards are OK.  Leave cancellation info with your family in case it is stolen.
  20. camera (optional)
  21. mosquito repellent with DEET at 50% (such as Deep Woods OFF)
  22. poncho for rain (small)
  23. hat 
  24. Candy/stickers/gum to give out to kids (optional)
  25. photos of family, home, school, city that are not digital(Optional)
  26. compact game (no electronic games other than what is on phone)

Clothing: Avoid clothing with pictures which may be interpreted as negative in another culture.  Most men and boys wear button down, short sleeved shirts and long pants to school and church.  Women cover to at least the knee.
  1. work clothes (3 days)
  2. dress up clothes (at least 2)
  3. 1 sweatshirt or jacket
  4. Capris/shorts and shirts for after work (think coverage and light weight)
  5. underwear and socks for 6 days  (at least)-- note: socks will probably be ruined
  6. walking shoes/work shoes & church shoes/sandals
  7. shower slippers (optional)
  8. swim suit (modest)
  9. bag for dirty clothes  
  10. Sleeping clothes
